Limit on comments/better CAPTCHA/Privacy Controls for DMs

I’ve previously reported on the persistent issue of spam bots inundating the comments section. While captchas have provided some relief, the problem is far from resolved. Just recently, I received a direct message from a scam bot attempting to lure me off-platform to Discord, using a poorly constructed, generic message. It’s become increasingly frustrating to continually block these accounts in the absence of a more robust, long-term solution. Implementing stricter limits on the number of comments users can post within a given timeframe would likely help mitigate the volume of spam.
Beyond comment controls, I believe enhanced privacy settings for direct messages are also necessary. It would be beneficial if users could restrict incoming messages—such as only allowing DMs from people they follow or from verified accounts. These controls would offer greater protection from unwanted contact and spam, particularly from bots and newly created accounts.
Finally, upgrading CAPTCHA systems to more effectively differentiate between human users and bots could have a significant impact. The combination of improved captchas, comment limits, and stronger DM privacy options would create a safer, more enjoyable community experience for everyone involved.
