No Casting Before or Submitting After the Deadline
Meredith Nudo
Voice Acting Club does not allow postings that cast before the deadline to ensure fairness for all voice actors who audition. I would like to see deadlines be considered unchangeable and immovable, so that CDs will not be able to cast until after it's passed. Similarly, voice actors should not be allowed to submit after the deadline has passed.

This is still incredibly bad. Some creators are so impatient. It is SO FRUSTRATING to see a project open for auditions and then see all the good roles were gone within a few days of the audition opening.

I actually do like to submit auditions to roles that have closed. I get an email when projevcts I have auditioned for have closed and it reminds me to check again to audition for roles I've missed :). Sometimes the creator hasn't gotten to the auditoins by then anyway.

It is true that people keep getting cast WAY before the deadline. And I have found that I can submit way after. Sometimes it IS frustrating because it means I've wasted my time auditioning for a role that's long been cast. Along with that I would like to see it forbid the creator from casting someone if they haven't listened to all of the auditions yet. I have no problem with the creator casting someone ahead of time or early in the process but they really need to prevent people from having their time wasted.

That feature would actually be a great feature to include. Casting before the deadline is a massive problem on CCC as there has been multiple incidents where I’ve found a role worth auditioning for only to realise that the role has been closed before the deadline and none of the other roles of that project would fit my voice range or when I see a role I save for later and then find out someone else was casted for the role before the deadline. It’s honestly an unacceptable move for the casting director to make as it can affect the growth of potential supporters for the project in a negative way because they won’t be able to audition for a specific role.

I'd love for this one to be done asap! Ran into this problem just the other day: Project ended on Oct. 9 but got shared around (I think on Twitter) either right around the deadline or just after. The poor project creator got flooded with another 25+ auditions submitted days AFTER the fact.
I find it really unfair to the HUNDREDS of other people who had taken the time and effort to get their entries in on time. I can only hope that those additional auditions won't be considered when casting, otherwise a lot of people are going to leave frustrated by the callous disregard of boundaries/deadlines.

Good example. A casting call was posted this afternoon with a January 20 deadline. I recorded 3 takes and took the time to edit so it sounded as clean as possible. When I went to upload my file, someone had already been cast for the role. This is super disrespectful of the actors' time, as we're misled into believing that the deadline is further away than mere hours.

This has happened three more times this week. It's frustrating to waste so much of my time.

Meredith Nudo: Happened to me, too. I was reading the about section on a casting call that was freshly posted. And by the time I finished, a person was already cast, out of the 3 auditions that were already there. No doubt the person was happy, but the rest of us felt pretty shitty :D

AKA - would disallow 'instacasting'. I'm all for this.
Meredith Nudo
CashlinSnow: Yeah it's pretty unprofessional, on both counts. If you want to instacast or have a snap turnaround time, just go ahead and list the deadline as that day instead of a week out. And if you can't make the deadline, then don't audition. Simple as that.
